Web 2.0 and Social Media: 5 great crowdsourcing solutions to let Web 2.0 work for your business

u should check out crowdspring.com or 99designs.com for crowdsourced design competitions or istockphoto.com if you are looking for a cheaper alternative to Getty for stock photography.

One of the primary trends that i find with services like the three mentioned above, is that they are disruptive to the legacy industries they are targeting (i.e stock photography, graphic design) - enabling competition and driving price reduction for the consumer.

great point and resources. I use istockphoto and didn't even think of it as crowdsourcing but that's what it is. Disruptive is definitely a key concept.

Nice post Dean - how about other big crowdsourcing cahlelnges

    1) Netflix challenge - outsourcing the development of their recommendation engine to the crowd - $1m prize for improving it by 10%
    2) Goldcorp challenge - outsourcing the study of geological maps to the crowd to find gold - $565,000 prize yielded $3bn in gold
    3) Innocentive challenges - outsourcing R&D to the crowd - platform used by Eli Lilly, P&G and others to solve R&D problems (e.g. find molecule that removes red wine stains)
